Anyhoo, when we weren't taking peoples' coats or making wish lists, we decided to compile the top 8 songs that they played at the dance (it was going to be 10, but not enough songs made the cut):
8. YMCA (The Village People)
7. Thriller (Michael Jackson)
6. Hero (Enrique Iglesias)
5. Ice Ice Baby (Vanilla Ice)
4. Bye Bye Bye (N'Sync)
3. Best of Both Worlds (Hannah Montana)
2. Bye Bye Bye (N'Sync...yes they actually played it twice!..I was reminded of Tyler Hedin knowing every step of the music video and his wonderful performances back in high school)
1. Mmm Bop (Hanson....where have they gone?!)

So, we got a great laugh of re-living our church dance days and are extremely grateful that those days are behind us.

Seriously hilarious post! Thanks again for being a chaparone :)
Whoa, most of those songs played at the dances when I was a youth! Someone needs to get them some new music! That's funny!
they played Hansen!? hilarious!
Ah, yes, the coat check--that was my fav spot to be at, except that during winter, it's always cold there.
I wonder if the youth would think those songs were cool if we told them that WE used to think they were cool, too...you should try an experiment ;)
I'm thinking I have a picture of four of us heading out to a church dance in Kristin's cool convertable. We thought we were the coolest - ha, or at least I thought so!
AWESOME! I love the pic of Hansen. Good blast from the scary past.
I had the chaperone privilege as well. I didn't find the coat check so entertaining. I guess I secretly went so I could dance too!
I (Tyler Hedin) resent that comment! I did not know every step to Bye Bye Bye! Maybe half...it was more like Bye By for me. Seriously though, I would like to forward any teasing boy band remark to Justin Martin.
You gotta love those church dances!
