Gala anyone?

Chris and I got to attend the 2009 Children's Hospital Employee Gala on Saturday night. It was a lot of fun. They hired a MC to be in charge of the program that was pretty funny. They gave away lots of prizes (don't worry, we didn't even win a free ice cream) and we all had a hand held voting device to play a trivia game about the hospital. It was pretty fancy so it was fun to see everybody all dressed up because we all know that scrubs do NOTHING for the body shape! After the dinner and program we headed down to the dance floor and I, for the first time in our almost three year marriage, got to see Chris dance....it made the whole night worth it! We decided that perhaps we should invest in some dance lessons as a couple so we would even have a clue to what to do!

Personal Hygiene and More

Do you ever get tired of taking the time to put on your eye shadow correctly? Or making sure that you've brushed every last bit of plaque off your teeth? Yeah, these things can be tedious sometimes. Well, over this past week I've discovered a time saving solution to these problems. It is called the game of basketball. Get a bunch of friends together and start a game. The key is that at some point during the game you need to get one of your friends to bash your face with his head. In one quick connection (or two over the course of a week in my case) you can give color to your eyes (I think you'll agree that dark red/purple looks good on me...I'll try out yellow/green in a few days) and chip off those bits of teeth that you don't want to clean. Plus with the eyes, the color lasts for a week or so, much longer than your average eye shadow. And with every bit of tooth you chip away, you save yourself time while brushing. It's a good conversation starter, and you may even get a free toothbrush when you go to visit the dentist.
This week's handiwork....and a mirror image from Thanksgiving 2007

A couple of other random things. Last week it got up into the 60's for a day or two and I took advantage of the warm weather to go running outside for the first time this year. It was so nice to be out with just shorts and a T-shirt. I'm really excited for it to keep warming up.

Finally, Linzi and I had a wonderful date last weekend. With her working weekends for the past few months, we really haven't gotten out much, but a friend had given us some free movie tickets so we decided to hit the town. We went out to dinner at T.G.I.Fridays and as we sat down a guy from a table right next to us was leaving. He asked us if we had the 2 for 1 coupon. We didn't...we didn't even know there was one available. So he gave us an extra one that he had, cutting the cost of dinner in half. Linzi and I were very grateful for this little act...something he didn't have to do and for which he got nothing in return except a hurried "Thank you" as he walked out with his wife. It was a great night, made even more so by the kindness of a stranger.

Too bad we didn't find this until the last day of the month

Morning Breath

So the other morning Chris and I got into this debate about morning breath. I believe that everyone has it, Chris does not. He thinks that somewhere out there there is a person who wakes up without morning breath. Could this be? Well, we haven't gotten over it yet and so please let us know what you think about the debate.........but just ask yourself this, have you ever met someone without it????

the 5 pound baby...

so today was a poopy day, literally. It was one of those days that makes me think, am I the one that chose this? For about 4 hours all I did was clean up poop. And it wasn't baby poop mind you, but big person poop. I gave an enema and let's just say it was down hill from there. The funny thing was was that the sweet old lady told me that she felt like she was sitting on a 5 pound baby. I said, "a 5 pound baby?" and she was all surprised that I had no idea what that meant! So I guess I have been saying it wrong all these years, because sitting on a 5 pound baby does sound a lot more uncomfortable than being constipated!

the shock of a lifetime.....

so today I got to shock a patient back into normal sinus rhythm....(well, the doctor was kind enough to let me press button number 3), it was pretty awesome, for me at least, not so much for her, but with enough Versed, she won't remember a thing!

Is this the real Chris Brown??

Last night I was laying in bed reading and our house phone rang (a rare occurrence in itself). I looked at the clock which told me it was 9:57, a very unlikely time for a phone call. Chris wasn't home and I just kept expecting it to be someone breathing on the other line and telling me that they were watching me or something.
Instead of that, I heard, "Is Chris Brown there?" (a gidy teenage girl voice)
I said, "um, he isn't home right now".
She replied, "oh my ----- is this the real Chris Brown? I mean the real Chris Brown? Oh my ----- I can't believe I am calling him" She then preceded to sing to me a bunch of lines from Chris Brown's songs.

Now I don't know if this was truly a sad, star struck fan or if it was a prank, but whatever it was, it really made me chuckle.

I should have told her to send me 50$ for an autograph from Chris Brown. That wouldn't have been lying right!

Nothing like really pushing yourself.....

So I was just thinking today, what are some things that I would like to accomplish this year??? and as I was thinking I decided that instead of setting a bunch a goals that create more stress in my life, I will attempt to:
1. do my hair (as in actually blow dry and style) at least once a week (why do so many girls make this look so easy?)
2. eat more chocolate
3. make dinner at least 4 nights a week
4. pass my classes (I am starting to see why people adopt the nursing school attitude of C's get degrees)
5. read the BOM from start to finish
6. shop more (I guess grocery shopping will have to count for now until I win a Nordstrom shopping spree!)
7.last but not least, I am going to locate (and then strengthen) my triceps and abdominals, I am pretty sure I was born with them, but I am not sure where they have gone

Phew. I am glad I got that all out there, hope I can make it. They always say until you write it down it doesn't mean a thing......
