We finally made it to Memphis.....

Here is what Chris and I did on New Years Eve
(warning, may be too exciting for some to handle)
-Woke up at 3:45 am to get ready to leave at 4:00 to the airport to head back home
-Sat on plane for almost 2 hours with no explanation as to why
-Missed our connection flight in Minnesota due to previous 2 hour delay
-Ran to next terminal to catch our detoured flight to Memphis (totally on the way to Missouri right?)
-Were schmoozed over by Delta by getting to ride first class to Memphis (totally not over-rated...I mean, they give you your drink in a glass cup with the can, they brought us a basket of goodies like twix bars, chips, and brownies several times, and they even took our coats to hang them up!!!)
-Arrived in Memphis where we were greeted by the smell of BBQ the moment we stepped off the plane! (we bought a sandwich because I was starving due to not eating all day but I hope it was not the best Memphis has to offer...)
-Got off plane in St Louis only to find that our 2 checked bags did not make it with us

Lets just say that it was a really long day and it took us over 12 hours and 3 flights to get home. We still don't have our baggage (with all our new Christmas presents might I add) and Delta is not answering our phone calls.

The highlight came when Dodd's were gracious enough to let us join them for a pizza dinner and ice cream (which was a blessing because all we had in our fridge was water and condiments!) and they didn't even mind that we left their house at 9:00 to go home to bed (which I am still regretting because only moments later Kathryn went into labor!) Happy New Year.

I had to just wipe a tear from my eye...that is an absolutely horrible story. I'm shocked that Memphis was the best route they could get you on. I figured the early morning would be the only rough spot to your day, but boy was I wrong. Glad you got home safely. It was fun to spend so much time with you over the last few weeks. We'll have to do it again. Love you guys.

That is a big bummer about the flights! At least you got to experience first class....I have yet to see how the high roller life is up there. Hope you get your bags soon! Happy New Year!
