Vacation?

Chris had his first week of vacation this past week. He gets 4 weeks a year, but doesn't really get to choose when he gets it. We had planned on working on our dead backyard whenever he had vacation, unfortunately, the August heat wasn't the most accommodating for that.

I had made Sam's 4 month well check on monday so that chris could actually come to one of the visits. She got her vaccines...followed by 5 days of a fever.
Here's her stats: *14 lbs (75th percentile) *26 1/4 inches (95th percentile)
The pediatrician said after seeing chris this all makes sense! I am seeing another bean pole in the family...

Tylenol is now her favorite treat. She hung out in her pjs the entire day and took some killer naps poor girl.

The blocks are pavers, the space between will be our lovely wanna be grass. The circles are trees already in place.
Before hours and hours of digging and raking

He was trying to talk me into giving him a wheel-barrow ride
This is what happens when you try to apply sunscreen to your own back (notice that he used the underneath technique on the left and overhand on the right). It is really my fault because I told him he needed to take off his shirt because all that time in the hospital was turning him into a ghost (a nurse even asked him last week if he was going to pass out, sadly he is just pale!)
I can't even say how many hours he spent out there digging in the 100 degree heat. I was so impressed by his determination to get the job done. I know it doesn't look like much now, but we have plans (and thanks to chris it might actually happen!)

Now the question is: what do you do with loads and loads of dirt?

why all the digging? You know just a regular sandbox is easier to dig in right? one of those turtle ones with an umbrella? just saying. Samantha is darling. Glad you have decided to keep her.

That is a lot of digging! Way to go Chris! Samantha is so cute. Sorry immunizations weren't too friendly to her. I am glad to hear you got to spend a week together. I loved your comment about Tori on facebook about her riding the bus. WE MISS YOU!!

I may laugh myself to sleep tonight thinking about that sunburn...
I cannot wait to see how that backyard looks when all is said and done.
And, it may be good that Samantha lives far away because her tall, skinny-self might make our adorable little chubster a little self-conscious...but maybe not. After all, it took some time but I don't mind being around Linzi anymore. Ha! ;)

The sunburn picture made me laugh pretty hard tonight as I sit in the SICU. Thanks for the amusement Chris.
