I am pretty sure Sam has decided that 5 months isn't so great. We started it out with trying oatmeal cereal for the first time because the whole 5:45 am wake up is not treating us so well...
To make things even more exciting, Sam had to get a VCUG (voiding cystourethrogram) done yesterday because she has had 2 UTI's already (one when she was 5 weeks and then another one a few weeks ago). They basically inserted a catheter and filled her bladder up with contrast and then waited for her to pee so they could see if her urine is refluxing back into her ureters and kidneys when she pees. It wasn't as bad as I anticipated. I have had several patients who have had it done and hadn't heard great things so I was anticipating screaming. She did cry, but it was all over in like 15 minutes. The conclusion was that she does indeed have reflux on both sides. They grade it on a 1-5 scale and she is grade 3. She now gets to enjoy a daily dose of yummy pink berry elixir and yearly VCUGs in hopes that she out grows it by the time she is 5 or 6 so she doesn't have to have surgery. I am starting to think that Chris has cursed us. First me with kidney stones and now Sam with this. Good thing he isn't becoming a cardiologist or oncologist or psychiatrist right?

Wow, poor little girl! I sure hope she outgrows it, as I know you do too! At least she keeps smiling her beautiful smile! Your yard is looking awesome, way to go!
ha! i'm expecting a similar reaction to oatmeal when we try it! And I'm so sorry to hear about her VCUG situation...I've never heard of that. Poor little girl!
Hey now, My Psychiatrist has great hours. You sounds so nurse like in this post. Poor sam!!
p.s. your "anti-spam" word was tampon. Thought you'd like to know.
Linzi,
I know people of full of what they think is best. I am not saying what I think is best because I have no idea!! I will tell you that my kids didn't like oatmeal when I first started them on solids. But the rice cereal thing helped us. A little formula before bed helped Logan. He was my ABSOLUTE worst sleeper.
Poor little Sam! I hope the little pink elixir works.
Sending my love, Julie
I'm so sorry about dumb tests and even more sorry that she does have reflux on both sides. How painful! I totally believe in the curse stuff. Seems like whatever rotation Dave was on, we, or someone in our families would suddenly have a problem that fit into the rotation. A little hands on experience...
So sorry about the kidney stones too! ooh. When were those?
Wow - could she get any cuter?! I love her little expressions. She's gonna be funny...I just know it! Can't wait to kiss her little face again soon!!! (P.S. She's probably up early because she misses me so much...yes, there's a correlation between the two , I promise.)
